September 3rd, 2008

Google launched its much ambitious and mostly camouflaged stand-alone open source application called Chrome. A browser developed for windows vista/xp using open source browser engine webkit.

Early, Google Blogoscoped has published a lengthly cartoon sent to them by Google and drawn by Scott McCloud that provides the first public details about Google Chrome, an open source browser based on WebKit and powered by Google Gears that has been rumored but never before confirmed.

Many of features resemble Firefox, making it easier to easily remember certain frequently used keys like Open Tab(Ctl+T) and seach box(Ctrl+K).

The Red Flag-08, considered one of the toughest military exercises, at the Air Force base Nellis in Nevada, US, entered its final phase following the crawl, walk and run pattern of exercise.

PIP is a a single sign in solution that supports both OpenID (you are issued a Verisign OpenID) and direct sign in to a number of supported websites. If a site doesn’t support OpenID, login is handled by populating the username and password fields directly.

August 8th, 2008

The Beijing Olympics got under way in spectacular fashion today with a lavish opening ceremony at the Bird’s Nest stadium.

The event mixed China’s millennia of history and hi-tech present as a modern global powerhouse.

The four-hour event, meticulously choreographed by Zhang Yimou, China’s most celebrated film director, ended with the final torch bearer, the former Olympic gymnastics champion Li Ning, being hoisted aloft by invisible wires.

In the style of one of Zhang’s martial arts films, he then “ran” along the rim of the stadium’s roof before igniting the vast Olympic cauldron as thousands of fireworks lit up the skyline.
